Oatlands Park Hotel is steeped in royal history as it was quite literally built for a king and queen. The magnificent grounds were originally the site of a grand Tudor palace built by Henry VIII in 1538. Other monarchs, including Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I, also resided at Oatlands during their reign. Over the centuries, the house and grounds have been rebuilt and remodelled several times, and in different styles, by a string of wealthy tenants. Oatlands Park opened as a hotel for the first time in 1856. The current owners bought the hotel in 1986 and have lovingly restored and refurbished it, retaining the unique character of the listed buildings and grounds. Oatlands Park Hotel is now a 4-star country house hotel and a very popular wedding venue throughout the year. Situated in historic Farnham, The Princess Royal is suited to wedding celebrations of all sizes & styles. If you’re looking for the perfect venue, we are boasting a beautiful function spaces & 27 bedroom hotel. The Waverley Room sits proudly as the focal point for a wedding. Licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 80 guests, and catering capacities of 80 seated for a wedding breakfast & an evening celebration for up to 100 guests. The Waverley Room is the perfect transitional space for a truly special event. The classic décor with a recent sparkle, basket lights & vaulted ceilings make the Waverley Room an elegant choice for a wedding celebration.

As you approach the wedding venue down a quiet country lane, you are greeted by a collection of Sussex flint and brick buildings as well as the main farmhouse. Entering through an iron gate beside the gatehouse, the driveway takes you past the Farmhouse and across the grounds to the front entrance of the reception barn. As soon as you enter the barn, you are hit by the “Wow Factor”. The whole room is swathed in beautiful ivory pleated marquee drapes with swags and tails. The east wall has windows overlooking the rolling fields and woodland where horses and deer roam freely, while the integrated raised dance floor and tall central pillars exude atmosphere, creating a sense of grandeur and space.

We are able to offer exclusive use of the Victorian house with beautifully manicured side garden for intimate weddings and for larger celebrations we have our beautiful Venetian Garden themed permanent Marquee with stunning manicured garden complete with furniture. Both are registered for Civil Wedding Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships. However, we do only hold one wedding per day ensuring you are the only couple getting married. Our marquee is one of the largest venues for Civil Ceremonies in the Thames Valley with a capacity of up to 300. Each wedding at Trunkwell is unique and bespoke to your requirements. Should you wish, we will help you transform the marquee to your specification if you do not wish to use our own Venetian Garden theme. On Sunday 26th February 2023, the magnificent Michelham Priory House & Gardens near Hailsham in East Sussex is throwing open its doors from 11am to 3pm to host a fabulous Sussex Wedding Showcase. With hand-picked, preferred suppliers from across Sussex, a chance to visit the historic house, barn, moat and grounds, and opportunities to meet specialist wedding experts, this event is not one you’ll want to miss! Set within the priory’s stunning Grade II listed Tudor mansion and Elizabethan Great Barn, the Sussex Wedding Showcase will provide couples, their families and friends with the inspiration to plan their perfect, special day. The Prior’s Chamber in the house will be themed for winter weddings on the day, while in the Elizabethan Great Barn the focus will be on summer weddings.
