Once the home of Edward Austen Knight, Chawton House was regularly visited by his sister Jane Austen, who lived in a cottage in the village, and was known to her as 'the Great House.' Chawton House now holds an extensive collection of works by early women writers and the House and Gardens are open to the public. You could return to the Mayer Pavilion for a sweet country dining experience with 40 friends and family. Alternatively, you can hire the generous Paddock Lawn for a marquee or tipi reception with no limit on your guest numbers.
