Situated in the South Downs National Park, Chawton House is a stunning Elizabethan manor house, surrounded by picturesque countryside and steeped in literary history. Once the home of Edward Austen Knight, Chawton House was regularly visited by his sister Jane Austen, who lived in a cottage in the village, and was known to her as 'the Great House.'
