The National Museum of the Royal Navy is getting ready to refresh its wedding offer for lucky couples. With unique historic venues offering a day they won’t forget, there’s something for history buffs, serving men and women, and those who want something they simply can’t find anywhere else.
To launch this offer, a special wedding fair is being held at the Grand Magazine at the Explosion Museum in Gosport. The Grand Magazine itself is a part of Priddy’s Hard, formerly a Naval Armaments depot. The space was used for gunpowder storage, perfect to help any wedding or event go off with a bang. The space offers beautiful vaulted ceilings, Georgian wood flooring, and views across Portsmouth Harbour. Best of all prospective couples can come and see it for themselves.
On the 2nd April 2023 from 12pm to 4pm visit the Grand Magazine and take in the sights, meeting suppliers and investigate options for the big day. Local residents may even recognise some of the suppliers, with The Pastry Corner from Southsea, and the Shantymen in attendance. See below for a full list of suppliers present.
Grab some tasters, a goodie bag, and fizz on arrival, and see what the fuss is all about.
Registration is free, as is parking, and extra tickets can be booked, whether it’s for the family or the wedding entourage.
The Grand Magazine makes up only part of the offer. The National Museum of the Royal Navy is licensed for weddings onboard HMS Warrior as well as the Explosion Museum. A wedding onboard HMS Warrior offers a similarly unique and intimate experience. Originally built for shock and awe the world over, this image has persevered with visitors even 150 years later. The beautifully restored ship brings couples back to the age of Victorian splendour, so watch the sun set across Portsmouth Harbour, and dance the night away on the half deck for an unforgettable wedding.
For couples interested in HMS Warrior exclusively, the event at the Grand Magazine will still give them a chance to discuss options with the National Museum of the Royal Navy events team.
