A stunning, 1875 church building, fully wheelchair accessible, with excellent sound system and organ. As a Unitarian church, we are a fully-inclusive community, welcoming everyone regardless of faith, gender, orientation, ethnicity, nationality or background. We are licenced to perform weddings for same-sex and opposite-sex partners, and are equally welcoming to trans, cis or other-gendered people. Wedding services are created by the couple with the minister, so that each service is right for the couple, in terms of music, words, ritual etc.. Traditional or quirky, we celebrate your love the way you want it celebrated!
Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is a truly unique, historical and stunning venue for Weddings and events. From the cosy, book lined Study, to the beautiful Drawing Room with its Boudoir Grand piano, both spaces provide a special space for your wedding ceremony. Both complete with Victorian furnishings and furniture to suit your wedding party, these period rooms are perfect for the couple wanting something a little bit different and unique. Following the ceremony, we can provide a drinks reception in the period Dining Room, which is also where Elizabeth write her famous stories and letters. The beautifully restored gardens with its mix heritage and native planting schemes offer another option for your drinks reception and is an ideal backdrop for wedding photographs. The Houses light and airy basement, includes what was originally the Servants Hall and former Kitchen which has now been transformed to our Tea Room. The Villa, situated in the quaint village of Wrea Green, is a four-star country house Hotel in the Lancashire countryside open all year round to non-residents. Nestled in between the hustle and bustle of the cultural towns of Preston and Blackpool, The Villa is an ideal place for a relaxing retreat. First established in the 19th century, The Villa has drastically changed over the decades. Formerly an impressive gentleman’s residence, The Villa is now one of the most-loved wedding venues and hotels in the north west. Remarkably, it has maintained its elegance that befits its great heritage despite extensive refurbishments. The Villa has 31 luxurious bedrooms in total, all of which are furnished to the highest possible standard with superb en-suite facilities. They offer an excellent variety of bedrooms, family rooms, suites and staterooms, two of which have four poster beds and two have split-level mezzanine floors, to accommodate visiting friends and family. Their award-winning restaurant serves an extensive range of dishes created by their talented Head Chef, Matthew Johnson. Only using the finest and freshest local produce, Matthew and his team continue to impress guests with their culinary delights. With more than three different menus to pick from, you will be spoilt for choice. The Villa’s reputation and success continues to soar which is greatly attributed to the phenomenal function facilities. Their three main function rooms have been purposefully built to maintain the elegance of the building but add a sense of luxury. The Hall, with its high, oak beamed ceilings, grand fireplace and olde worlde feel is an ideal room for wedding ceremonies, christenings and other parties up to 150 guests. Their Pavilion, is the largest function room, able to allow for up to 250 guests. It has been purposefully built to look like a marquee from the inside with its white, draping, starlit canopy and mood lighting. The Piano Lounge is an ideal room for smaller events such as conferences, birthdays or anniversaries. Its high ceiling, glistening chandeliers and spectacular staircase, is the ideal room for up to 50 guests. The Villa also have alternative function rooms that are perfect for smaller, more intimate events allowing for as small as two to twenty guests. Unlike other wedding venues, The Villa has its very own bridal parlour, which is perfect for the bride and her bridal party to get ready in together on the morning of the big day. The room has a large dressing table with a LED makeup mirror and ample space for her closest friends to relax with champagne whilst getting ready. On those warm, sunny days The Villa’s multiple terrace and garden space provide the perfect place for arrival drinks, BBQs or fireworks. They also have an outside play area complete with swings, a slide and climbing frame providing the perfect entertainment for children. The Villa is a popular wedding and events venue but they like to emphasise that they are open 365 days a year to non-residents. So, if you fancy a spot of lunch, a dinner for the whole family or even just a drink with friends, The Villa can accommodate.
